Having Trouble Figuring Out What to Wear For Your Maternity Session?

I’m here to help make that process just a little less stressful. When it comes to picking the perfect outfit for your maternity session, one thing to remember is to pick something comfortable and that accentuates that beautiful bump! Something else that’s important that not a lot of people think about is to choose colors that compliment your skin tone as well as the location you’ll be at. If you’re planning a beautiful snowy winter session, you might want to stay away from a white dress. Or if you’re taking photos near a waterfall, dark brown and black may be out.

What I love about maternity sessions is you can choose to dress up, be more casual, show off that bare bump or do a little of everything! I love me a good flowy dress moment but I’m also so obsessed with the more casual look of jeans and a sports bra or t-shirt. So if you want to get both of those looks into your session, then I say go for it! Just remember to be yourself and be comfortable in whatever you choose to wear. If you’re not comfortable, it will show in the photos and we definitely don’t want that.

Looking for maternity clothes can be so stressful to begin with, and now all of a sudden you have to worry about finding the perfect outfit for a photoshoot that you’ll remember for the rest of your life? Sure. No pressure! Luckily, I have a client closet with some dresses that range from XS-XXL that you can choose from. Flowy dresses and skirts are pretty popular when it comes to maternity sessions these days, but if you really want to show off that bump, a basic formfitting dress is always the way to go. I love the movement of a flowy dress and how grand and dramatic they can be, but I also love seeing that beautiful bump. It might not feel like it now but I promise you’ll miss that bump so show it off while you still can!

Speaking of showing off that bump, if you’re comfortable with it, I say show off that bare belly! There are so many beautiful options that make it easy to show it off whether it’s a dress specifically designed to do so or even if you find a kimono or duster that has the ability to tie at the top.

No matter what you ultimately decide to wear for your maternity session, just know it’ll be so beautiful and it’ll be something you’ll never forget.
