From Bump to Cake Smash!

There’s nothing I love more than when I get to follow along with a client’s journey from pregnancy and beyond. But when it’s your best friend of almost 20 years, it makes these sessions 10,000% more special. I’ve known Ally since Freshman year of high school way back when and when she asked me if I could do her maternity session and newborn session of course I said, heck yeah! Now we were both pregnant at the time and our due dates were only a little over a month apart so we got lucky I was able to do the maternity session.. because a week later is when my little girl came along!

A few weeks after that is when Baby Jake came along and boy was he a cutie! I brought my new little assistant along for Jake’s newborn session and we just had so much fun. He was so alert and snuggly and ugh let’s talk about the brother photos! Tyler was already the best big brother and it was so sweet to capture their new bond. They’re definitely going to be best friends forever.

Fast forward to a year later (somehow a year has gone by!) and up came time for his cake smash! Cake smashes are always so fun because you never know if the baby is going to love the cake or want absolutely nothing to do with it. We ended up doing it outdoors at Monmouth Battleview State Park in Manalapan which was so beautiful. We got everything set up, I took a few photos before we brought out the cake and then it was the moment of truth. After touching the cake a little bit, it turns out… Jake is NOT a fan of cake! I’m sure he’ll grow to love and appreciate the sugary goodness soon enough though. 🙂
